In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of applying for Global Entry and how to check your application status, helping you streamline your next international adventure!
What is Global Entry?
Global Entry is a trusted traveler program offered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency. It’s designed to expedite the entry process for pre-approved travelers arriving in the United States from international destinations. With Global Entry, you can skip the regular immigration lines, use automated kiosks, and save precious time during your travels.
Who Can Apply for Global Entry?
Global Entry is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and citizens of select countries through reciprocal agreements. If you’re a frequent international traveler and want to minimize the hassles of long immigration queues, Global Entry is an excellent option.
How to Apply for Global Entry:
- Create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) Account: Start by visiting the official CBP website (https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/) and creating a TTP account. This account will be your gateway to applying for Global Entry and other trusted traveler programs like TSA PreCheck.
- Complete the Application: Log in to your TTP account and complete the Global Entry application form. You will be asked for personal information, travel history, and other relevant details.
- Pay the Application Fee: After submitting your application, you’ll need to pay a non-refundable fee, which is $100. Payment is made online via your TTP account.
- Schedule an Interview: Once your application is conditionally approved, you’ll receive an email notification. Log back into your TTP account to schedule an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. These centers are typically located at major airports.
- Attend the Interview: Bring your passport, valid driver’s license, and any additional documentation requested to your interview. During the interview, a CBP officer will review your application and ask questions to verify your eligibility.
- Final Approval: After a successful interview, you will receive final approval for Global Entry. You will be issued a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which you can use when booking flights.

It should be easier to check your status
Application process is too complicated. Too many companies have access to my information.
I’ve waited 8 months and nothing. All I can see is pending review – wait for conditional approval. At some point, there should be a mechanism to call in.
