Delta Amex Resy Credit – How To Use It [2024]
American Express announced changes to the Delta credit card lineup in early 2024 (notably, just a few months after Delta announced changes to the Skymiles program). While the changes came with increased annual fees for Delta cardholders, additional benefits were introduced. This includes a new monthly Resy dining credit.
What the heck is Resy?
Resy is an online restaurant reservation service similar to OpenTable that allows users to book reservations at about 16,000 restaurants worldwide. In 2019, Resy was acquired by American Express, and the credit card company has been slowly integrating it into the Amex ecosystem ever since. Resy is popular in large metro areas in the United States (like New York City). It offers exclusive reservation availability and special dining experiences through its Global Dining Access by Resy program.
What Amex cards include a monthly Resy credit?
Currently, only certain Delta-branded American Express cards include a monthly Resy credit.
Amex Card | Credit Amount |
---|---|
Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card | $10 per month |
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card | $20 per month |
Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business Card | $10 per month |
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business Card | $20 per month |
Credits are offered as a statement credit when you use your card at a participating Resy restaurant, up to a max of $120 per year for Platinum Delta cards and a max of $240 per year for Delta Reserve cards.
How to enroll for the Resy credit benefit
America Express requires cardholders to enroll in this benefit before credits will apply to their account. Don’t worry – this is a quick process.
- Log into your American Express account on your computer
- Click Rewards & Benefits in the top menu, then click Benefits
- Click Enroll Now in the Resy Credit section
Congrats! You are now enrolled 🎉 I recommend waiting about 24 hours before attempting to use your monthly credit, as there can be a delay in activating it in Amex’s internal system.
How to use your monthly Resy credit
Once you’re enrolled, using your monthly Resy credit is super easy.
All you need to do is use your Delta Amex card to pay at a participating Resy restaurant. Your credit will automatically be added in a few days (but may take up to 8 weeks). That is it!
You don’t need to make a reservation through the Resy app or pay in a certain way, which is one thing many folks appear to be confused online about.
Shortly after using your card, you’ll receive this automatic email from American Express confirming your Resy credit is on the way:
How to find Resy restaurants
Now that you have enrolled in your Delta Amex Resy credit benefit, you likely are wondering how to find participating Resy restaurants.
You can download the Resy mobile app or visit Resy.com. From there, you can search for restaurants in your city.
It is best to make a reservation for these restaurants, but that isn’t required. I have used my Resy credit while sitting at the bar.
Here are some of the options currently on Resy in Washington, D.C.:
Keep in mind that Resy is more popular in larger metro areas. It may be tough using your monthly credit if you are in a small town.
Closing Thoughts
Delta has announced many changes over the last few months. While some have been tough to swallow, the updated co-branded Delta American Express cards were significantly improved, including the new monthly Resy credit. Cardholders in major US cities will have the easiest time using their credits, but American Express is frequently adding new restaurants to Resy, so expect wider availability soon.
