How To Use SimplyMiles to Earn AA Status and Miles
When American Airlines relaunched the AAdvantage loyalty program in 2022, they introduced several ways to earn elite status (even without flying!). Unlike before, when you had to spend and fly a certain amount with American Airlines, the new loyalty program leverages various third-party partnerships to encourage customers to interact with the company in new and exciting ways.
One of those partnerships is SimplyMiles, a card-linked system that allows Mastercard users a way to earn extra AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points by adding offers to their card.
You may be wondering, isn’t this AAdvantage eShopping?
Nope!
SimplyMiles is another portal that differs from AAdvantage eShopping because it is tied directly to your Mastercard. It isn’t a shopping portal like Rakuten or AAdvantage eShopping where you have to click through immediately before purchasing. This means you can double-dip if a merchant is listed on both platforms (I’ll cover this more in a second!).
What is SimplyMiles?
SimplyMiles is operated by Mastercard and allows cardholders to earn extra AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points by linking various offers to their card using the SimplyMiles online portal. It is free to use.
This portal offers a similar experience to bank offerings like Amex Offers and BankAmerideals.
All US-based American Airlines credit cards are powered by Mastercard, so you should be set if you hold one of the airline’s credit cards.
How To Use SimplyMiles
SimplyMiles is easy to use once you’ve signed up for the platform. To sign up, you log in to your AAdvantage account and then link your eligible Mastercard by entering the card number.
Head over to https://www.simplymiles.com/ to get started.
Once you’re logged in, you have immediate access to SimplyMiles offers. Each one varies — some offer a set amount of miles when you spend a certain amount, and others offer uncapped miles per dollar. Each offer has fine print, so be sure to read the terms for each offer while adding them.
Here is a screenshot of SimplyMiles offers that I have in my account:
As you can see, there are exciting offers on SimplyMiles that let you rack up AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points quickly.
Hot Tip: I’ve noticed that WineInsiders is usually available…. at the time of this article, they are offering 465 miles and Loyalty Points with a purchase of $100 or more. Last December, however, I earned a whopping 2,325 miles and Loyalty Points for placing an order with them!
This brings me to my next point….
I recommend logging into SimplyMiles once a week to check for new offers. Most are added at the start of the month, but they may be added sporadically, and offers expire.
Here are some of the offers that I’ve redeemed myself over the past year or so:
How To Stack SimplyMiles Offers 🔥
Now that you’ve signed up for SimplyMiles and linked your Mastercard, it’s time to learn one of my favorite hacks to earn tons of extra points and miles (and yes, even extra Loyalty Points): stacking offers.
What does it mean to stack offers?
Stacking is a way to take advantage of multiple merchant offers. This is also known as double-dipping. Think of it like using a coupon to purchase a product that’s on sale at the grocery store. You stacked two different offers to score an even cheaper price. The same can be done with points and miles!
How can I stack offers with SimplyMiles?
The secret to stacking offers with SimplyMiles is to find a merchant listed on SimplyMiles and your favorite shopping portal, like Raktuen or AAdvantage eShopping.
Since SimplyMiles is card-linked and shopping portals are browser-based, you can use both in most cases to earn twice as many points and miles than by using one platform alone.
Here’s what I mean…
WineInsiders is also a merchant on the AAdvantage eShopping portal. Currently, you can earn 5 miles per dollar there.
WineInsiders is also on Rakuten, which offers 5% cashback.
Savvy Rakuten users also know that you can also use Rakuten to earn extra Amex Membership Rewards points.
That means you can click through your favorite shopping portal to earn cash back, and then pay with your Mastercard (after you’ve added the offer in SimplyMiles) to earn rewards from both platforms! So, instead of earning 5% cash back, you can earn 5% cash back PLUS AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points from SimplyMiles.
Closing Thoughts
There are countless ways to earn American Airlines miles, and SimplyMiles is one of the lesser-known (and potentially lucrative) ways. The platform is open to anyone with a Mastercard and offers cardholders a rotating array of card-linked offers. What’s unique about SimplyMiles is that it can be stacked with shopping portals so that you can earn twice as many (or more!) miles with an eligible merchant. Best of all, SimplyMiles is free to use!
