Transfer Amex Points to Hilton – 30% Bonus [Expired]
American Express frequently offers a transfer bonus to Hilton — and it is back until the end of the year!
Until Sunday, December 31st, 2023, you can get a 30% bonus when you transfer Amex MR points to Hilton Honors. Points usually transfer at a 1:2 rate (meaning 1 Amex point = 2 Hilton points) but that is now increased to 1:2.6 during this promotion. This means you can covert 1,000 Amex points to 2,600 Hilton Honors points until the end of the year.
While American Express states this can take up to 24 hours to complete, it is usually pretty quick in our experience (almost instantaneous in most cases).
Should I transfer Amex points to Hilton?
Great question!
It is true that Hilton is known as one of the worst transfer partners for American Express – but this is simply because other partners are more valuable in certain cases.
While this isn’t the highest transfer bonus we’ve seen, this is a great time to convert your Amex points to Hilton if you have a future trip in mind.
Keep in mind that Hilton points do expire if you don’t have any qualifying activity in your Hilton Honors account in the past 24 months. Transferring Amex points do not extend this time, so you’ll need to have other activities – like an actual stay.
Closing Thoughts
American Express is currently offering a limited-time transfer bonus to Hilton Honors until December 31st, 2023, where members can receive a 30% bonus on Amex Membership Rewards points transferred to Hilton. This promotion increases the usual transfer rate from 1:2 to 1:2.6, allowing for more Hilton Honors points per Amex point transferred. While Hilton may not be the most lucrative transfer partner, this offer presents an opportunity for travelers with upcoming plans to maximize their rewards. It’s important to note that Hilton points expire after 24 months of inactivity, and transferring Amex points does not extend this validity, so it’s advisable to ensure other qualifying activities are conducted to maintain points’ longevity.
